Waaila app structure
In Waaila there are three main locations separated into tabs: My Depots, My Templates and Template Gallery. Under the tab My Depots you can work with data sources and manipulate and run tests. In the My Templates you can store prepared set of tests to use them easily on other properties. In the Template Gallery you can find publicly available tests.
Using datasets
In Waaila, a workspace is divided into depots and each depot may contain several datasets. Datasets in Waaila consist of a set of tests and a connection to a particular source of data, such as a particular view in Google Analytics or a specific account at Piano Analytics. There can be multiple datasets connected to the same source of data, each with a particular purpose. For example, you can have a set of tests for general daily checks, a set of tests for daily checks of e-commerce data (with notifications to a specialized team) and a set of tests for custom tests that you run manually when you need to analyse a current issue in the data.
Using depots
In Waaila, a workspace is divided into depots and each depot may contain several datasets. A Waaila depot is a basically folder that serves as a list of one or more datasets. You can use separate depots if you have data from several websites or for manual testing and production alerts. However, you don't need multiple depots, you can have all your datasets within one depot called for example "Main".
To create a depot, select the button "Create a new depot", choose a name for it and optionally write a description of the purpose of this depot. You can change both the name and the description later.
When you have a depot, you can either create an empty dataset or create a dataset from an existing collection of tests.
Using workspaces
Each Google user logged into Waaila has their own private workspace. Workspaces may be shared among users to simplify cooperation and make the best use of your premium access.
How to share access to workspace
- in the upper right corner open the User dialog and select Manage workspaces (this opens list of workspaces that you own or have access to)
- select the workspace in My workspace list, click on 3 dots and select Share
- fill-in email of the user that should receive access to your workspace (the email needs to be associated with a Google account but it does not need to have an existing Waaila account - Waaila account can be created in the process of accepting the invitation)
- select required role to determine if the user can create and edit templates and tests in your workspace (Contributor) or only view and run existing tests (Reader)
- confirm by clicking Send invite
How to switch to a shared workspace
- in the upper right corner open the User dialog and select Manage workspaces (this opens list of workspaces that you own or have access to)
- by clicking on the Switch button you can access a selected workspace (currently used workspace is marked as "Current")
- you then have the option to view and run tests in selected workspace (if you have a role Reader) or also create and edit templates and tests in your workspace (if you have a role Contributor)
